Can fluorescent lamps cause fire?

Although the temperature of the fluorescent tube is not high, the fire caused by the fluorescent lamp can actually occur from time to time. Why is this? The problem is not in the lamp, but in the ballast of the fluorescent lamp.

Different specifications of fluorescent lamps have different voltage and current requirements, so a ballast is required to reduce the voltage and limit the current. The ballast consists of an enamelled coil and a silicon steel sheet. It is structured like a small transformer, except that it has only one set of coils. The ballast consumes a portion of the electrical energy when it is energized and converts the electrical energy into thermal energy. Therefore, after the ballast is energized, the coil and the silicon steel sheet are heated, especially if the quality is poor, the heat is more likely to be generated. If the temperature is too high, the insulation may be damaged and a short circuit may be formed, so that the nearby combustibles are ignited.

Therefore, the quality should be selected at the time of purchase. The ballast should not be installed directly on the combustible material during installation, and pay attention to keep a certain distance from the combustible materials. In daily life, pay attention to moisture and moisture and pay attention to ventilation. Do not switch the fluorescent lamp frequently.
